RX (click here) who additionally offer Protonix, a proton
pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat ulcers (often in combination
with antibiotics), gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), erosive
esophagitis, or Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Plus offer the
anticholinergic agent pills Bentyl and Levsin which are
used to relax or otherwise decrease stomach movements to
relieve painful spasms / cramps.
The Stomach Acid Related Pills Featured Here
Each of the three stomach pills we feature control or rather
limit the production of stomach acid. Both Nexium
and Prevacid are proton pump
inhibitors (PPI's) primarily used to treat gastroesophageal
reflux (GERD); they may also be used in combination with
two antibiotics to treat Helicobacter pylori (a virus that
causes ulcers) infections and duodenal ulcers themselves.
Although Nexium and Prevacid are also sometimes used to
treat heartburn, the main medication for this is Prilosec,
which combats the persistent heartburn which exists even
after someone has changed their diet.
Stomach acid pills can reduce the number of patients requiring
endoscopy / ulcer surgery. 90% of duodenal ulcer patients
and in around 75% of all peptic ulcer sufferers are suited
to such medications / treatments. With over 7 million duodenal
ulcer sufferers in the USA alone accounting for US$3.2 billion
in medicare costs in 1975 alone, the number of partial gastrectomies
and hospitalizations can be reduced significantly with stomach
acid pills.
